All services offered in studio lessons but with the convenience of our instructor coming to your location instead. For Piano, Organ, and Voice lessons, it is highly recommended that you have a keyboard, piano, or access to an organ in your own home or location as our instructors do not carry a keyboard with them.

FAQ’s

Different things work for different students, but typically, with younger students, we will start with the basics and teach one to two new concepts per lesson and assign a few pieces to put those concepts into practice for during the week.
For older students, or for younger students who have managed to grasp the basic concepts well, we then dive a little further into technique and theory in addition to their weekly repertoire.
Students will usually be assigned technique, repertoire, and a listening assignment or an ear training assignment for the week.
-
Depending on your goals, the type of music that will be assigned to you will be different. If you are completely new to music, you will most likely be working on familiar and easy tunes to grasp the beginning concepts. If you are already familiar with reading music but have particular goals in mind, then we will gear your repertoire to your preferences.
And if you plan on competing or testing through the ABRSM or any other music examinations, then we will work you through your exam pieces as well as pieces that will quickly challenge and push you to the next level throughout the academic year.

While everyone is busy, it would be difficult to progress much without practice outside of the weekly session at the studio. Even just 10 minutes a couple times a week is better than nothing at all. It is also better to space out your practicing rather than cramming in all the practice the day before your lesson.
For younger students, 5 to 10 minutes 2 to 3 times a week would probably be ideal. As they progress to more challenging and lengthy pieces, 20 to 30 minutes would likely be more appropriate. And for advanced students or students preparing for an exam, 30 minutes to an hour daily would preferable.
-
Children as young as 3 or 4 are perfectly well suited for music lessons. As long as they are interested and able to sit and listen, they are welcome and encouraged to discover the joy of making music. Parents are advised to sit in and participate in lessons with children younger than 5.
